Rest in peace Puan Armah Nordin

I went home early last Friday to find my parents being awfully weird that day. Never had I seen them like that.

Eh? Kenapa senyap saja ni rumah?” I asked.

Nenek Uncu kau meninggal dunia sudah” my dad replied.

Bila?

Tadi petang di Hospital Papar.

I don’t believe this. Only a few months back my grandfather passed away, now it’s her. Nenek Uncu is my grandmother’s sister and from what I heard she was actually waiting turn to do her routine medical check-up when she passed away. She was buried at Tanah Perkuburan Kg. Benoni Papar on Saturday.

I remember when I was just a little boy during school holidays; I frequently went to her house to play toys. I think the toy belongs to her granddaughter; it was a fun toy, something like Lego where you need assemble it to create whatever you want. I really love to play that type of toys, love the assembling part. I guess that why I’m a Civil Engineer now. Building things are like a game to me eh? Because of my enthusiasm playing with it, Nenek Uncu suggested that I come there to play during the day and be back at my grandparents’ house before sunset. At one point I stayed overnight there, stayed with my Uncle Daing, to be woken up early in the morning to find me playing with my favourite toy. Up until today I would be remembered as the grandson who woke up early in the morning to assemble parts of toys.

Oh I do remember that she loves to bake cakes. I love her cakes, especially the icing. I would always see her making the icing, and of course would be the one who will be doing the quality check 😉 and also in charge in “disposing” the rest of the icing from the enemy hehehehehe. It was a fun memory to me and I’m going to remember her just like that.

Al-Fatihah.
