Out of breath at Karambunai

I was late for Mountain Bike Hash this morning. When I reached Inanam, everybody was gone except for their car. Well that didn’t damper my eagerness to cycle. It has been quite some time since I last cycle over at Salut. To be honest, I have been thinking about it for weeks now. So I set off to Salut, parked my car near the coconut stall and start riding.

Unlike my usual ride, this time I ride alone. I must be nuts because I forgot to pack my portable tool, in case I have a puncture. But I did bring a spare tube. It’s a good thing that I went alone. I can explore route that I myself have never venture into. Instead of following the normal route, I venture off to another route, trying to find out what I might find. Yeah sure we have Google Earth and Wikimapia for that but where’s the fun of venturing into the unknown? This is my version of self adventure, besides; I have the whole day to myself.

Calm morning.
Calm morning.

It’s quite funny that when someone is riding a bicycle that looked expensive; I’m not saying mine is expensive, complete with helmet, glove and backpack, you are presumed to be a foreigner. As I was cycling through Kg. Karambunai Baru, I gave a small gesture with my right hand and a smile at one villager and he instinctively replied “Hi”. Actually we always get this when we passed a village. Every time they would said “Hello”, “How are you?” or “Welcome!”, I just smiled back. Sabahan are a very friendly lot.

Breath taking or out of breath view?

Actually I planned so stop by at one place along the route to take a photo of the surrounding. You see, every time we stopped there, I always forgot to bring my camera. This time I’m wondering how it would looked during this time of the day. I even stopped by at a small shop to get myself some drinks and snack, probably have my own small picnic, enjoying the scenery. Unfortunately, I’m out of breath from pushing my bike going up the hill. So I have to abandon the idea and cycle back to my car. But before I head home, I gave myself a nice treat of Coconut Pudding.

I’m so going to do this again!
