Getting 5 Cars with Unlimited Money

If you have unlimited money and you can buy 5 cars to fill your empty garage, what car will you fill it with? I saw this post on Facebook and most of the answers are filling them with exotics sports car, but not me. Don’t get me wrong. I love driving fast, but not as much as roaming where a normal car would go. Not necessarily off-road, it could be some less used road, maybe rural road. I like to explore less explored places.

If you know me and know what car I am currently driving, you would be surprised. I love driving my current Ute (I watched a lot of Australian videos lately). And before my current Ute, I drive a Toyota Prado, provided by the company where I work for at that time. It is, as far as I know, a very reliable car brand and that was what everyone in Sabah thinks so too. But now I’m choosing Ford Ranger because of features that Toyota Hilux doesn’t have at the time I make this choice. It has Apple CarPlay. It has semi-automatic parallel parking. I have no problem with parallel parking, I parallel park my current Ute all the time, but it would be nice if I have assistance once in a while. It has a much more comfortable ride, an experience I get from driving a Ford Ranger, provided for a construction project. What else? An active safety feature, which is lacking in other Ute, as far as I know, off. But I could be wrong. Toyota did recently come out with the new Toyota Hilux Rogue, which have similar features such as I mentioned above (except for semi-auto parallel parking). Probably because of the hydraulic power steering it uses. But after comparing the new Rogue side by side, I think I would still go for Wildtrak.

2. BMW 530e

I am a fan of a hybrid car. Before this car, hybrid cars are not very attractive looking. Then it slowly changed with car manufacturer offering a hybrid version of their traditional combustion engine car model. Not long after that BMW & Mercedes-Benz came to the picture. Why the former? Since I was young, I don’t like the Mercedes-Benz car design, mainly because it is an old man’s car. Most old businessmen and politician were driving one. Even though they have changed their design to attract the younger generation, but the stigma had stuck to my head. I also like to keep the emission low, because I believe that global warming is true. But why do I need this car? This is for my daily driving around the city. I’ll be using more of this car than my Ute. That’s about it.

Now at this point, I am thinking that having 2 cars is enough. I don’t need more than 2 cars. But this is a theoretical post, looking at if I have unlimited money to spend. So on to the remaining 3 cars on my list.

3. Land Rover Defender

When I first give my answer on Facebook (where I first saw this question), the third car that I picked was Toyota Land Cruiser Hybrid. Noticed the pattern here? I am more inclined toward hybrid cars nowadays. But having a hybrid four-wheel-drive SUV doesn’t make sense to me. I think it would not work. I also think that the petrol engine has no business in a four-wheel-drive vehicle. It must run by a diesel-powered engine. With that in mind, and wanting to have an SUV in this list, so I choose a Land Rover Defender. For light offroading, I would use this car. But I think I will use my Ute more than the SUV for that purpose. They do have a hybrid option, should I decide to go for this though.

4. Rolls Royce Phantom

Heck, since theoretical I have unlimited money, might as well throw in this car. It looked cool, and I like the passenger door, that swings back instead of forward. That’s the only reason for me for having this car. I must add, other than Mercedes-Benz, security personnel in Sabah would think that you’re a VVIP and would direct you to a VVIP parking even though you are there just to use the toilet.

Now to the last car. I’m not getting an exotic sports car. Where would want to drive fast in Sabah’s road? Bringing in a Tesla maybe? I think I’ll bend the rules for the last one. I’m not getting a car, I’m getting a motorcycle.

5. Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Ever since I watched the movie Wild Hog, I’m interested to own a Harley Davidson. Back then I was eyeing on the Low Rider, I think. I forgot which model was it. All I have is the photo that I saved back then. For today list, I pick the Fat Bob. It’s an old man bike with newer modern technology. What can I say, I am getting older, but love new technology.

So that’s my theoretical list. But in reality, I will only keep 3 vehicles on this list. More than that just doesn’t serve a good purpose other than wasting precious space, time and money. I would rather spend my theoretical unlimited money on charity than on cars. It makes much more sense.

What is your list? Would love to know yours.
